About us

Lastensuojelupalvelut Nummenlinna Oy has provided child welfare substitute care services since 2011. Our units, Nummenlinna small group home in Kellokoski, Tuusula, and Sofianna small group home in Järvenpää, operate under basic-level institutional licences. Both of our small group homes have seven places for school-aged children and young people who have been taken into care or placed as a support measure in non-institutional care, and who benefit from care and upbringing in a homelike environment. Urgent placements are possible after careful assessment, as we aim to maintain conditions that are as stable and predictable as possible for the children and young people already placed with us.

We are a small, family-owned company whose aim is rehabilitative, high-quality child welfare work, and we see it as an honour to be part of the childhood and youth of the children placed with us. The aim of our work, alongside the child's or young person's rehabilitation, is family reunification or supporting the young person towards independent living. We seek to live an ordinary everyday life, in which school, hobbies, social relationships and spending time together are the cornerstones. Open interaction, honesty and working matters through thoroughly by talking are our primary means of resolving problems. We believe that we adults have a responsibility to guide the child in finding their own resources and strengths, and to support the child towards the most balanced adulthood possible.

The roots of Lastensuojelupalvelut Nummenlinna Oy go back to a time when the owners of the company worked as professional family home parents, offering children in need of substitute care the opportunity for a family-like, as ordinary as possible environment in which to grow. We seek to preserve this idea in institutional substitute care as well, because we believe that every child has the right to live as ordinary and carefree a childhood as possible in a homelike environment.
